Beginners and Intermediate Quark Training summary

Quark XPress training duration: 2 days
Level: beginners / intermediate Quark training
Software: QuarkXpress 7, Quark Xpress 6, Quark Xpress 4, Quark Xpress 5, on PC or Mac
Numbers: One to one or small groups of up to 4
Trainees in a group should have the same skill level and the same requirements.
Locations:
1) At client's site in Birmingham, Midlands and around the UK (PC or Mac).
2) For one or two trainees, here in South Birmingham (PC - version 5 or 7).
Quark XPress training requirements:
You should have good computer skills. Some knowledge of other design software will be useful, particularly Photoshop for image resizing and colour correction.

 

Quark XPress Training - Beginners and Intermediate
2 day Course Outline

The Quark XPress training will cover the basics of page layout and design with Quark XPress and look at time saving features like style sheets and master pages.
During the Quark training you will normally work through some of your own documents and designs, creating simple documents like flyers, small adverts, leaflets, newsletters, etc.
* Other more advanced documents may be covered as part of the Quark XPress training with prior arrangement and if examples are provided *

 

Quark XPress - Beginners Introduction - Day 1

Creating a new Quark Xpress document

Starting a new document:
Setting document size and margins and other options
Saving a document and organising files
Modifying page properties

Quark Xpress work area

Moving around the document
Zoom tool and shortcut keys for zooming in and out
Using guidelines to help control layout

Content & Item tools
Picture boxes and text boxes
Line and shape tools
Text linking tools

Shapes and lines

Creating shapes and lines
Setting fill colour other properties for shapes
Setting line style, colour and arrows for lines

Colours palette - adding new colours

Create a multi-page document

Create a document of your own choice, usually something typical of the documents you will need to produce with Quark Xpress.

This course outline is a summary of what can be covered in the training. Every Quark XPress course is slightly different and will be based on individual requirements.
Intermediate Quark Xpress courses will normally be based around working through some of your own projects and designs.

Advanced Quark training can be organised with other trainers if required. This may include preparing print ready documents and creating more complex long document designs.
