Introduction to web site design with Macromedia Dreamweaver and web graphics with Macromedia Fireworks in Birmingham and Midlands UK.

The Dreamweaver and Fireworks course is designed to give you the basic skills needed to get started with website design. As part of the course you will build a small web site. This will include preparing images and graphics for your web site with Macromedia Fireworks, building a small web site with Macromedia Dreamweaver and editing basic HTML code.

Designing a small web site with Macromedia Dreamweaver
Creating simple web graphics or banners with Macromedia Fireworks
Preparing and optimising photographs and scanned images with Fireworks
HTML code recognition / editing

Image resizing and some web graphics design can be done with either Photoshop or Fireworks if you have both applications.

Dreamweaver and Fireworks web design course summary

Course duration: 2 days.
Level: beginners (and some intermediate)
Software:
Web Design:  Dreamweaver MX, Dreamweaver MX2004, Dreamweaver 8.
Web Graphics and images:  Fireworks MX, Fireworks MX2004, Fireworks 8
Also available for Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 & Fireworks CS3
Numbers: One to one or small groups of up to 4
Trainees in a group should have the same skill level and the same requirements.
Locations:
1) At client's site in Birmingham, Midlands and around the UK.
2) For one or two trainees, here in South Birmingham.

Dreamweaver and Fireworks web design introduction - course requirements:
It is assumed that you already have reasonable computer skills, including an understanding of file management. Some basic experience of web design or HTML would be helpful, as would some knowledge of image editing and graphics software, although these are not necessary

If you are already familiar with some of the basics of web site design, a custom course can be created for you.

Defining editable areas on the page and setting properties for those areas
Adding content to pages based on a template

Web Graphics with Fireworks ( or Photoshop - optional)

Summary of the main tools and features in Fireworks - text, shapes, colours, layers, etc.

Designing simple buttons and artwork in Macromedia Fireworks
Designing a simple banner or header design for your web site
Creating web page backgrounds and border designs
Creating images with areas of transparency (so you can see the web page background)

Photographs and scanned images:
Preparing photographs and scanned images for use on a web page
Adjusting brightness & contrast and colour balance
Correctly resizing images for the web page, resizing without causing blurring
Image Optimisation - getting file sizes as small as possible while maintaining image quality
Saving in the correct file format and checking file sizes

 

This web design course is available onsite in Birmingham and Midlands areas, including Solihull, Bromsgrove, Redditch, and Worcester. Web design training is available for one or two people at our premises in Cofton Hackett, South Birmingham.
