The 5 day Adobe Creative Suite web design course is designed to give you the basic skills
needed to get started with website design. and then move on to more advanced
areas like CSS and Templates.
As part of the course you will
build a small web site. This will include preparing images and graphics
for your web site with Adobe Fireworks and Adobe Flash, building
and managing a web site with Adobe Dreamweaver and editing basic HTML
code.

Adobe Creative Suite - Web design course duration: 5 day

Adobe Creative Suite 4, Adobe Creative Suite 3 - Web Edition:
Web Page Design: Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 or Adobe Dreamweaver CS3
Web Graphics and images: Adobe Fireworks or Adobe Photoshop
Animation and Interactive Designs: Adobe Flash CS4 or Adobe Flash CS3
Numbers: One to one or small groups of up
to 4 trainees.
Trainees in a group should have the same skill level and the same requirements.
Locations: On-site training is available at your office with trainers around the UK.
May not be available in all areas due to limited availability of Flash trainers.
Training Requirements:
It is assumed that you already have reasonable computer skills, including
file management. Some basic web design or HTML experience would be helpful,
as would some knowledge of image editing and graphics software, however
this is not essential.

Introduction to Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Flash
Day 1 - Adobe Dreamweaver
Introduction to the tools and features of Dreamweaver
How to organise the files in your web site
Designing a simple web page
Using tables to layout a page
Adding images and text
Formatting text with CSS
Using behaviours to create mouseovers buttons
Image maps and creating hotspots
Making links to other web pages and documents
Adding an e-mail link
File management and file types
Basic HTML editing and code recognition
Build a small web site or 3 - 5 pages
- optional area if time is available -
Creating a simple page template or using library items for a navigation bar may be covered, as well as the areas above.
Day 2 - Adobe Fireworks and / or Adobe Photoshop
Introduction to the tools and features of Fireworks
Using the tools and setting tool options
Using floating palettes including Colour, Fill, Stroke, Layers and Frames
Vector graphics & creating artwork
Text and text formatting
Adding drop shadows and other effects to text and artwork
Bitmap images and basic image editing
Image resizing and colour correction
Designing web page buttons
Creating a simple banner or header design with images/logo and text
Creating a simple animation (FW)
Image optimisation and saving images for web sites
File formats - gif and jpg
Saving a graphic with areas of transparency
* some areas can only be fully covered in Fireworks (FW) and not in Photoshop.
Day 3 - Adobe Flash
Introduction to the main tools and features of Flash
Painting and drawing tools, and using colours
Creating and formatting text
Importings and using photographs
Using the timeline
Colour changing or fading objects over time
Shape changing (morphing)
Animating movement of shapes, images or text
Adding basic interactivity - such as a link to a web site
Adding sound effects
Creating an animated banner or similar design
Exporting your flash animation ready to place into a web page
2 - 4 week break:
This is to allow time for you to practice and familiarise yourself with the software and techniques you have learned so far.
It is important that you are confident with the basics
so that you can get the most out of the second part of the course.
Adobe Creative Suite - Web design course - part two
Intermediate Dreamweaver + Fireworks and Flash
Days 4 and 5: Intermediate web design
This will be an integrated 2 day course looking at some
intermediate areas of Dreamweaver and designing a web site with Dreamweaver,
Fireworks and Flash.
The site will be of your own design. You may want to use some of the designs
you have created during the previous training or that you have created
on your own in the break between the two parts of the course.
This part of the course will normally be customised to your requirements.
The course will usually include:
Troubleshooting designs and pages that you have created between the two training sessions.
Looking at different ways of laying out a web page in Dreamweaver, including tables, Div Tags and CSS, and an introduction to CSS layout and XHTML code.
Design a template based web site with Dreamweaver, including a look at the use of nested templates for larger sites.
Designing and building a small web site using whichever methods you prefer, incorporating designs from Fireworks and Flash into Dreamweaver.
Creating graphics and animations that you require for your site, or building on the designs you have already created.
Managing files, checking links, checking and validating css and XHTML code.
At the end of the course you will hopefully have a good understanding of the various techniques used in web design, and will have created a working web site which incorporates text, photographs, graphics and animation.

Adobe Creative Suite training - Dates
Dates are arranged to suit you - subject to availability.
The course is intended to be spread over a few weeks to allow you time to practice in-between training sessions. With the first 3 days of the course to take place during the first 1 - 2 weeks and final 2 days training a few weeks later, so that you have time to practice between sessions.
Adobe Creative Suite (web) training is available on-site at your office with trainers around the UK : including Birmingham, Midlands, Yorkshire, Manchester.
You may also do this as a 4 day course without Flash.
Course can be modified to include Photoshop or Illustrator rather than or as well as either Fireworks or Flash. You may need more days if you want to cover more applications and still want to work to intermediate level.
